Antique Late 19th Century Campaign Camphor-wood Trunk or Chest
This camphor-wood trunk dates from the mid to late 19th century. The nicely figured timbers are a lovely golden colour and in beautiful condition. It has brass bindings, original carrying handles & escutcheon plates.
A wonderfully evocative item which could be used for storage and/or as a coffee table or side table. A fabulous piece of history - these trucks were usually made for officer ranks, to take on their duties aboard. Very hardwearing and built with brass cappings to help protect the wood and being made from sweet smelling camphor-wood, which helped to protect thier clothes from insects and moths.
