Edwardian Style 1940s/50s Walnut Veneer Lg Wardrobe MAPLE & Co
A very lovely large wardrobe made by Maple & Co. It has an Edwardian style to it, but we're not sure how old it actually is - it may be later - around the 1940s. Very attractive, with the walnut veneer having a smooth, silky patina to it and rich in colour. The pad feet and cabriole legs have a shell motif on them, and the elegant key holes and handles add a feminine touch. Three doors, a substantial hanging area in the larger, two door section, and the third section housing top to bottom shelving and a mirror on the inside of the door. A very lovely elegant piece of British made furniture.
It was founded by John Maple in the early 19th century. It was later run by John Blundell Maple, 1st Baronet. Maple became one of the prime makers and suppliers of furniture to the aristocracy and royalty in the United Kingdom.
