Lomonosov LFZ Seated Panda by Pavel Veselov – USSR, circa 1960s-70s

  • £75.00

Lomonosov LFZ Seated Panda by Pavel Veselov – USSR, circa 1960s-70s

This charming seated panda is an icon of Mid-Century Soviet ceramic design. Sculpted with a delightful, rounded silhouette, the piece features the characteristic "soft-focus" underglaze painting that defines the Lomonosov (LFZ) style. The lustrous glaze reflects light across its smooth contours, while the hand-painted details around the eyes give the panda an endearing, soulful expression.

Produced by the historic Lomonosov Porcelain Factory, this piece represents the pinnacle of Soviet "Animalier" art. Designed by Pavel Veselov, a sculptor whose work is held in the State Hermitage Museum, it embodies a moment where Soviet design shifted toward whimsical, domestic beauty. It is a "Sustainable Heritage" asset—a durable piece of 20th-century history that remains as stylistically relevant today as it was 60 years ago.

A perfect "curiosity" for a Mid-Century sideboard or a nursery shelf. Its monochrome palette allows it to sit comfortably in a minimalist "Warm Minimalism" interior or a more eclectic gallery wall arrangement.

Honest historical patina. The porcelain is in excellent vintage condition with a high-gloss finish and no chips or cracks.
